Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How to get to the Białowieża Forest?

A: If you choose flying to Poland please notice that the nearest airports are located in Warsaw about 220 km away from the Forest.

The main is WARSAW CHOPIN AIRPORT – the biggest airport in Poland which gives you many flight opportunities. From the airport you can come to the Forest by car.

You can also choose a train. There are trains from Warsaw (Warszawa Centralna train station) to Białystok almost every 2 hours (except the night). Then you should continue your journey from Białystok to Hajnówka by bus (there is a bus every hour or even less than an hour). There are also some buses directly to Białowieża. If the last bus stop is Hajnówka, you need to take one more bus to Białowieża.

Q: What should I take with me to the Forest?

A: Remeber about good boots if you want to go the Forest. Rubber boots are very useful because the area is quite swampy. Also think about good protective clothes. Poland can be tricky with temperatures even in summer. Besides, the Forest is full of insects so long sleeves or trousers can protect you from mosquito bites etc. You might also need an insect repellent.
